Travel Tips & Itineraries
After countless hours of research, too many spreadsheets to count, and more Google Maps pins than we care to admit, we started sharing our trip itineraries for one simple reason: we wish something like this had existed when we were planning our own adventures.

The Travel Tips & Itineraries section of Pack Pedal Plate is where we pull back the curtain on how we actually piece together the trips we take—whether it’s a weeklong loop through the Rockies, a canoe circuit deep in the backcountry, or a fly-in mountain biking mission. These are the exact routes, timelines, and tips we’ve fine-tuned over years of experience (and a few “learned-the-hard-way” moments).
Our trips usually pack in a mix of mountain biking, hiking, car camping, backpacking, canoe tripping, and scenic detours—and figuring out how to fit all that into a single itinerary takes real planning. We’ve done the legwork to make sure days are balanced, transitions are smooth, and logistics actually work. We’re not interested in cramming in so much that it stops being fun, but we do believe in getting the most out of your time outdoors.
Here, you’ll find:
- Detailed itineraries for iconic and lesser-known destinations
- Packing and gear advice based on the specific demands of each trip
- Logistical tips that help you avoid common pitfalls (and save time + money)
- Our honest take on what was worth it, what we’d change next time, and what surprised us
Whether you’re planning your first big road trip or you’re deep in the weeds of mapping out a remote backcountry route, we hope these guides help make your adventure smoother, more fulfilling, and maybe even a little more epic.
